Aboud Health Center
The village of Aboud is located 45 km north from Jerusalem in the western part of the West Bank.
Since the early 2000s, the construction of separation wall and the presence of several checkpoints has isolated the local population from access to health facilities. Caritas Aboud Health Center was founded in 1990, with the aim of offering comprehensive healthcare services for Aboud and its 13 surrounding villages - a population of about 23,000 people.
Expanded in 2009, the health center now provides emergency and specialized service such as dentistry, ophthalmology, rheumatology and dermatology. In addition, it has an emergency maternity ward for emergencies and operates a laboratory, X- Ray room and a pharmacy. About 400 patients are treated in Aboud every month.
Taybeh Health Center
Taybeh is situated in the West Bank, 30 km north-east of Jerusalem. It is a small village of 1,300 inhabitants surrounded by Israeli settlements. Caritas has been historically present in the village as it is one of the few Christian communities remaining in the West Bank.
The Caritas Jerusalem Taybeh Health Center was established in 1997 to provide health services for a population of 18,000 in Taybeh and the surrounding villages. The health center’s medical team treats about 500 patients a month. The service includes primary healthcare, pediatrics and gynecology. An entire floor is dedicated to health education and psychosocial care for children.
Gaza Health Center and mobile clinic
The Caritas Jerusalem Gaza Health Center is located in the Beach Camp area of Gaza City. This is one of the most populous areas in the Gaza Strip (80,000 inhabitants) and it is situated very close to the Jabalia Refugee Camp.
The health center offers primary healthcare and provides an integrated medical programme to the local community. Our doctors see about 250 general patients a month and nearly 300 female patients at the women’s health practice. Our gynecologist is one of the only female practitioners in the Gaza Strip.
The center is also the base of a mobile medical team which is providing service to Gaza’s most marginalized communities. The mobile unit operates since 2004 and visits Rafah, Amore, Imm Sadar, Magazi, Al Shati Camp and Breij Camp.
On top of medical care, our team in Gaza provides much-needed psychological help to the victims of the surrounding violence. They pay a particular attention to the children who suffer the most from the conflict and the harsh living conditions. In addition to therapeutic help, we also provide leisure activities for children and young people.
