A Visit That Revealed What Is Possible
February 25, 2026In this video and accompanying photos, you can see moments from psychosocial support activities implemented by Caritas Jerusalem in Gaza as part of the Emergency Appeal (EA).
Psychosocial support activities implemented by Caritas Jerusalem in Gaza as part of the Emergency Appeal (EA) aim to provide children and families with safe, protective, and nurturing spaces amid ongoing conflict, repeated displacement, and deep uncertainty.
Through structured recreational, creative, and psychosocial activities, children are given opportunities to express emotions that are often difficult to put into words — fear, loss, anger, and hope — in an environment that prioritizes safety, dignity, and care. At the same time, families are supported in rebuilding a sense of routine, connection, and emotional stability despite the surrounding crisis.
These interventions are designed not only to reduce stress and psychological distress, but also to help restore a sense of normalcy in daily life, even if only temporarily. By strengthening emotional well-being, reinforcing resilience, and encouraging positive coping mechanisms, psychosocial support activities play a vital role in helping individuals and communities endure the prolonged humanitarian crisis and regain a sense of control, belonging, and hope for the future.
