JERUSALEM - On March 14 and 15, 2023, hosted by the Syriac Catholic Patriarchal Exarchate of Jerusalem, the members of Assembly of the Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land (ACOHL) met to discuss the Synod's Continental Assembly, Caritas Jerusalem, as well as the two recently opened offices regarding legal and safeguarding issues for congregations and Catholic Institutions. Also discussed were various nominations within the diocese.

During the meetings, Mr. Anton Asfar was able to introduce himself as the new Secretary General of Caritas Jerusalem, and the work of Caritas Jerusalem. Mr. Anton said he was “humbled today to meet the Assembly of the Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land and present myself- this is my first meeting with the ACOHL - and to present Caritas and its interventions in the Holy Land, mainly in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza''. He continued to say that he was “inspired by the words of his Beatitude when he talked about the Mother Church, mentioning that Caritas Jerusalem should be the mother Caritas of all “Caritases” and this a global perspective of Caritas Jerusalem”.
