Free Medical Day Provides Essential Healthcare Services to More Than 520 Patients in Bethlehem
June 12, 2026During his fifth pastoral visit to Gaza since the beginning of the war, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and President of Caritas Jerusalem, visited Caritas Jerusalem's humanitarian and healthcare operations in the Gaza Strip, where he met with staff and received updates on the humanitarian situation and the organization's ongoing response efforts.
Throughout the visit, Cardinal Pizzaballa listened to Caritas Jerusalem's teams on the ground, learning about the challenges facing Gaza's communities and the efforts being made to provide essential healthcare and humanitarian assistance to vulnerable families amid the continuing crisis.
Speaking during the visit, Cardinal Pizzaballa expressed his deep appreciation for the dedication and commitment of Caritas Jerusalem's staff, acknowledging their tireless efforts to serve those most in need under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. While recognizing that no single organization can address all of Gaza's challenges, he emphasized the importance of continuing to support the most vulnerable and doing everything possible to alleviate their suffering.
The Cardinal also stressed that Gaza continues to need both prayer and practical support. He described Caritas Jerusalem's work as a concrete expression of the Church's love in action, translating solidarity into meaningful assistance for those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Despite the immense challenges, Caritas Jerusalem remains steadfast in its mission, providing healthcare, humanitarian aid, and compassionate accompaniment to individuals and families across Gaza, while witnessing to the values of human dignity, solidarity, and hope
