The Youth Program is based on educating Palestinian youth to enhance their role in participating in the development of their societies based on Catholic social teachings through training volunteers, implementing purposeful activities that serve the poor, including the elderly, orphans and persons with disabilities, and participating in advocacy campaigns on several issues of concern to Palestinian society.

The majority of the Palestinian population is under 18 years old. It is our mission at Caritas to help young people to develop their sense of responsibility through community projects and social activities.

The Caritas Youth Volunteers Programme is present in 13 different cities and villages in the West Bank. Activities include assistance to isolated elderly persons, home improvement for poor families, Palestinian culture days and capacity building workshops.

Caritas Volunteers

The Caritas Volunteers programme started in 2005 with the objective of preparing young people to play an active role in an independent and democratic Palestine. We encourage the youth to become leaders of their community, driven by the spirit of social justice and tolerance. We also give them tools for succeeding in their professional life in a difficult economic environment.

Caritas is present in 10 parishes around Ramallah and Bethlehem and in schools in Ramallah, Taybeh and Birzeit. Our volunteers are between 18 and 30 years old, while the Friends of Caritas members are 15 to 18 years old.
